Grants & Scholarships

The Arizona Architecture Foundation supports a wide range of grant & scholarship programs that focus on architecture, design, and the architectural heritage of Arizona.

Grants and scholarships are awarded to individuals and organizations to further the mission of the Foundation. Grants are awarded in three different categories and travel scholarships are offered for both students of architecture as well as emerging professionals.

Architectural Excellence Grant

The goal of the Architectural Excellence Grant is to support projects or programs that promote Excellence in Architecture and the Built Environment.

The goal of the Architectural Registration Exam Grant is to recognize the significant contributions of architectural interns at an early stage of their career and to encourage them to complete their architectural licensure by helping with the cost of professional examinations.

Robert Saemisch Prize

Since 2018, the Foundation has sponsored an annual travel prize to an emerging professional from the AIA Phoenix Metro Chapter. The award provides emerging professionals the opportunity for professional growth and development through the experiences of independent travel and research.

Since 1990, the Foundation has sponsored an annual travel prize to architecture students at The Design School at ASU. The award provides students the opportunity to grow and develop in their architectural education through the experiences of independent travel and research.
